UGANDA LUDO FEDERATION (ULF) REAWAKENS ITS PRESENCE IN THE BUNYORO REGION:

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Uganda Ludo Federation (ULF), through its two standing committees—the General-Purpose Committee, chaired by the President, and the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Committee, chaired by the Deputy National General Secretary—recently convened a meeting with a six-member delegation from the Bunyoro region. This delegation, which had been dormant for a period, sought to renew its role within the federation. The meeting took place at the ULF headquarters in Nansana, Wakiso District.

The session was presided over by Mr. Kalule Hussein, the President of ULF, with Prof. Luyombya Kisakye Samson, the Deputy National General Secretary, recording the proceedings as the Minute Secretary.

The visiting delegation from the Bunyoro region represented seven districts: Buliisa, Kagadi, Kibaale, Kakumiro, Hoima, Kiryandongo, and Masindi. The group was led by Mr. Asiimwe Denis, the Chairperson of Kasomoro Ludo Club, located in Kasomoro village, Kibugubya Parish, Kyabigambire Sub- County, Hoima District. Mr. Asiimwe, who serves as the regional coordinator for Bunyoro, was appointed by the NEC to lead the delegation in this capacity.

The primary objective of the engagement was to address issues concerning the promotion and expansion of Ludo within the Bunyoro region, to increase participation in national Ludo events, and to encourage more clubs in the region to join the federation.

LEADERS OF BUNYORO SUB-REGION POSSES IN PHOTO WITH PRESIDENT ULF AFTER MEETING

The primary objective of the engagement was to address issues concerning the promotion and expansion of Ludo within the Bunyoro region, to increase participation in national Ludo events, and to encourage more clubs in the region to join the federation.

The meeting proved to be both productive and informative. The delegation from Bunyoro committed to working closely with the federation to raise awareness and mobilize Ludo clubs across the region for active participation in all national undertakings. This will serve to build capacity and foster momentum. Additionally, the delegation expressed a strong interest in participating in the upcoming inter-school Ludo competitions scheduled for June 2025. One of the delegates, a secondary school teacher, pledged to coordinate efforts with the team to mobilize both primary and secondary schools in the region for this initiative.

Regarding capacity building and technical development, the delegation requested regular training for referees, beginning with Grade C certification. The President of ULF expressed the federation’s willingness to provide support for these training initiatives.

On behalf of the federation, the President assured the Bunyoro leaders that their request for at least two clubs from the region to represent the seven districts in the 2026 National Ludo Super League would be considered. Furthermore, the delegation was urged to remain vigilant on issues related to leadership, governance, management, transparency, accountability, and compliance, as these factors are crucial for the sustainability and stability of the sport in the region.

The need for unity and collaboration in advancing the development and transformation of Ludo within the Bunyoro region was emphasized as a central goal for all stakeholders involved.
